New Book: The Shack

This was a pretty good book. It focused a lot more on God and Jesus rather then spirituality. I don't know much about the bible or any of the teachings of Jesus, so this was an interesting read for me. It was also just a good book to read, even if you didn't get anything further out of it.

Also, there are a lot of extras here: www.theshackbook.com

Jerod's Breakfast Skillet Recipe

1 bag of country style frozen potatoes
1 onion, chopped
6 slices of bacon (we used venison bacon)
4 eggs
cheese sauce (see below) - we used leftover sauce from our broccoli

This served 2 people just fine and we had no other sides, so it is a lot of food for 2 people.

Season potatoes with Lawrey's Salt. Fry potatoes in pan until brown. Saute onions. Fry bacon. Add onions and bacon pieces to potatoes when brown and toss together. Baste eggs over medium.

Place potato mixture on plate, place two eggs on top, put cheese sauce on top of that.

Yum.

Sauces

So I don't really make sauces very often but I had to pick the broccoli from the garden since it was way past ready and I needed a sauce pronto. I found this great website that had a lot of sauces on it. This one is my favorite. Jerod liked it too:

Basic White Sauce Recipe

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup milk

1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth.

2. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Use immediately or refrigerate.

Cheese Sauce: Stir 1/2 to 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese into 1 cup of white sauce. Heat just until cheese is melted.

100 Ways to Sunday

I just finished my latest book club selection and man was it good!

100 Ways to Sunday
by Robin Rice

Actually, you can even read it for free online, but I definitely would suggest buying a copy so you can highlight and reread it again. It is a spiritual novel about self discovery.

Storyline:
Reading A Hundred Ways To Sunday, you become reconnected to your own deepest soul urges and sacred calling. You again come to trust that you can “know what you know,” as well as discover a greater vision of who you are. Longstanding grief, feelings of futility for yourself and the world at large, and mothering issues can all be tended to through this novel. Reader Betty Lorenz said she “…grabbed A Hundred Ways for a ‘short’ break on my screened porch and read straight through...I'll NEVER be the same after reading this. It's hard to articulate but WOW....bells went off on practically every page for me!" MannaJo Greene put it this way… "Not meaning to, I found myself putting everything else aside…It felt like my own personal vision quest. The most experiential book I have ever read."

Seth Books

I've been checking into the Seth books lately and have found a lot on Amazon, but there are so many, I was having trouble putting them in chronological order as they are supposedly the best to read in order. I found a great site that actually lists them all in order if anyone is interested

http://www.brassringbooks.com/store4/books.htm

I read the Oversoul Seven trilogy recently for book club and it was a real winner. I am a big fan of the novel setting for life lessons. It keeps me so engaged while I'm learning. Love it!

Happy Birthday To Luka!

Luka turns 4 today. I sure wish dogs could live a lot longer then they do. I am always a little sad around his birthday because there are precious few in a dog's life. We couldn't have asked for a better, kinder or more loving dog then Luka.
